Accredited Sustainable Vineyards

All of our vineyards are fully accredited under New Zealand’s Sustainable Winegrowing New Zealand (SWNZ) programme. This means we follow strict standards for soil, water, waste, and plant protection, with independent audits carried out every year to ensure compliance and continuous improvement.

A Certified Sustainable Winery

Our winery is also SWNZ accredited, reflecting our commitment to sustainability from grape to glass. Through detailed reporting, careful resource management and ongoing innovation, we meet the industry’s highest standards. This ensures our wines are made with respect for the environment and our community.

Winegrowing

Viticulture, the science and practice of growing grapevines, is both an art and a test of resilience. Over the 20-week long growing season, fragile buds undergo the transformation into ripe grapes, all while facing the challenges of frost, rain, wind, and attack from unwelcome pests. Harvest is always a momentous event.

Our vineyards stretch across Hawke’s Bay, taking advantage of diverse soils and microclimates that contribute to a wide palette of flavours. Using sophisticated mechanical harvesters, we swiftly pick the grapes and truck them to the winery under optimum conditions, preserving the integrity and natural quality of the grapes.

Winemaking

Our talented winemaking team brings together many years of combined experience in a blend of science, skill and passion to craft wines of exceptional quality.

In a very efficient winery visitors are often surprised that such a small team can process so many grapes while keeping the cellar so tidy.

From harvest to fermentation, every step is about preserving and maximising potential.

Grapes spend around 150 days developing on the vine and once harvested, we use modern techniques to press and clarify juice with great care and speed. The fermenting juice is monitored twice daily, both scientifically and by taste, under the watchful eye of our winemakers.

After the fermentation is complete, the wines are handled gently, polished and fine-tuned so they present exactly as intended: balanced, expressive, and true to their origins.

Quality

Quality is at the heart of everything we do. Our team treats every litre of wine as if it were their own, and that ethos is instilled in every vintage intern who trains with us — leaving not only more skilled, but more passionate about winemaking.

Our modern laboratory tracks progress from ripening grapes through fermentation to bottle ready wines, ensuring they are stable, safe, and ready for the market.
